US, Islamic Emirate Officials to Meet in Doha

US special representative for Afghanistan Thomas West and the country’s special representative of human and women’s affairs Rina Amiri to hold talks with Islamic Emirate officials in the Qatari capital, Doha, US state department said in a statement.

The press release also said the US envoys will also meet technocratic professionals of different Afghan ministries.

According to the statement, the two will start a six-day fresh round of visits to the region starting on July 26.

Thomas West and Rina Amiri will start their visits from Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan where they will participate in the C5+1 special session on Afghanistan.

In Kazakhstan, the two will also meet with members of civil society who work for women’s empowerment in the country and Afghanistan.

The statement further said, Priority issues will include humanitarian support for the people of Afghanistan, economic stabilization, fair and dignified treatment of all Afghans, including women and girls, security issues, and efforts to counter narcotics production and trafficking.
