United Nations Office of Coordinating Humanitarian Assistance has expressed concern about the lack of sufficient funds for Afghanistan adding that the situation will adversely impact the education sector in the country.

2,800 community-based classes will halt operations by the end of August while 3,300 more will close down in October which will leave 166 thousand 220 kids out of studies among them 86 thousand and 434 girls.

Observing the negative impacts of the funding gap for Afghanistan, UN-OCHA has acknowledged that 1.2 million children will not receive education materials during the time span.

Earlier, the office had said that insufficient funds for the continuation of humanitarian operations in Afghanistan will impact the 29.2 million people in the country that are fully dependent on the aid.

It had said, the operations require 2.3 billion dollars from which they have received only 744 million dollars.
