A total of 74 thousand and 36 Afghan refugees have returned home during the last solar month (Jawza), local officials at the directorate of refugees and repatriates of the western Nimroz province said.

The returnees included 1106 families and 69 thousand and 259 single individuals.

The people have crossed the border in Nimroz province.

In the meantime, Afghan refugees settled in Pakistan have also been returning to Afghanistan through the Torkham port of the eastern Nangarhar province.

As per local authorities in the province, nearly 4 thousand families have come back to Afghanistan in the past three months as up to 20 families cross the border point every day.

It comes as Iran and Pakistan host the largest number of Afghan refugees in the world but the latter complain about the ill-treatment of security forces in both countries.
