OCHA: Over 29 million Afghans Need Humanitarian Aid
OCHA Afghanistan has said that 29.2 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian aid in 2023 as they are facing a huge gap in funding in the year.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has said that they need USD 3.2 million to reach the planned 21.3 million Afghans in 2023.
According to the office, only 23 percent-$744 million have reached the office which indicated the $1.3 million gap in the fund.
It comes as the number of Afghans in need of humanitarian aid was 28.3 million early this year.
Earlier, WFP had warned of halting operations in the last quarter of 2023 as they will run out of sufficient funding in Afghanistan.
