Last Year Survey: Over a Quarter of Afghan population Living in Cities


Afghanistan’s National Statistics and Information Authority has released the findings of their recently conducted survey which indicates that 25.4 percent of Afghan people currently live in urban areas while 74.6 percent are settled in villages.
The survey includes findings of the past lunar year, 1401 which also consists stats on mother and child mortality, underage and illegal marriages of girls and people’s access to education.
According to the findings, 37 percent of girls in Afghanistan are married off before turning 15 or 18. 28.7 million girls have been married off before reaching 18 years while 9.6 were made to tie knot before the hit 15.
Acting head of the authority, Faqir Muhammad Ziar said that 22 thousand and 221 households had taken part in the nation-wide survey.
